Dennis’ Son Dominic leaves Helena for his Naval duty station
Dennis was born in Kalispell, MT, in 1952. He was the second of two boys in the family. The family moved to Libby when Dennis was 4 years old. He attended Libby public schools from Kindergarten through High School. Dennis participated in sports during his school years - football, cross country, basketball, track and baseball. Dennis was a member of the National Honor Society, was a Boys’ State Delegate and chaired his high school civic club.
Dennis’ Father (deceased) worked in the lumber mill. Dennis’ Mother (Irene) worked in various offices before opening her own real estate business in 1969. Irene still resides in Libby and owns her own real estate office. Dennis’ older Brother, Jay, was killed in an auto accident in 2003. Dennis’ Father died in 1982.
Dennis was married for twenty four years. He is now divorced. Dennis has one son Dominic and two adopted children; William and Mary Rose. Dominic is currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. Thus far, Dominic has served for four years as an aircraft electronics specialist in the U.S. Navy. Dominic was recently assigned to the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln Task Force in the Pacific.
Dennis was a Boy Scout in his youth. Dennis earned his Eagle Scout Award in 1967.
Dennis won a track scholarship to attend college. He attended Western Montana College in Dillon for one year and was on the Frontier Conference Champion Track team. He then transferred to the University of Montana in Missoula, graduating in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with emphasis in accounting and finance.
Following his graduation Dennis worked in retail and for the State of Montana as an auditor and accountant. Dennis worked for the Board of Investments, the Department of Commerce and briefly with the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS).
Dennis returned to the University of Montana in 1979. He graduated from the University of Montana’s School of Law with a J.D. degree in 1982. While in law school, Dennis was the treasurer of the Student Bar Association, coached high school track in Missoula, belonged to Phi Delta Phi and was a Boy’s State Counselor.
Upon graduating from law school, Dennis worked with a law firm in Havre, Montana, until he opened his own law firm in Helena on February 1, 1985. He has maintained his practice in Helena for twenty three years. Dennis’ law office is located on 6th Avenue in Helena. Dennis has participated in hundreds of trials. In addition to Dominic, Dennis adopted two children; William and Mary Rose. Both adopted children suffer from fetal alcohol syndrome. Dennis’ adopted children have presented Dennis with significant parental challenges and heartache over the years. These challenges have helped develop Dennis’ patience and understanding for children, as he continues to encourage and support them.

Dennis is a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is active in his church, Our Lady of the Valley. Dennis is also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
