FOR RELEASE: Monday, February 17, 2008 Marie McAlear 442-1204
(Helena) Helena attorney Dennis Loveless today announced his bid to replace retiring District Court Judge Tom Honzel. Loveless practices in both Lewis and Clark and Broadwater Counties.
Loveless has practiced law in Helena for twenty three years. A former state employee, Loveless has significant civil and criminal law experience. He has appeared in literally hundreds of trials. Loveless has owned his practice and small business in Helena since 1985.
Loveless is a mediator for the Montana Supreme Court. He is an administrative law judge for the Montana Office of Public Instruction. Loveless also served as a public defender in criminal court.
“We need to assure that the citizens of Lewis and Clark and Broadwater Counties continue to have thoughtful and speedy justice. Our district judges have some of the heaviest workloads in Montana; our citizens have to wait sometimes for years to have their cases heard. We should explore, in conjunction with our county commissioners, asking the Legislature to add another district court judge in this district,” Loveless said. He added, “Broadwater County should have one district court judge to assure judicial continuity.” Currently two of the three Helena judges rotate weekly trips to Townsend from Helena.
Loveless has three children. His son Dominic is in the U.S. Navy. Dominic is an aircraft electrical specialist with the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln Task Force. Loveless also adopted two children with severe fetal alcohol syndrome; William and Mary Rose. Loveless, married for 24 years, is now divorced.
